Growing through giving. Growing in God’s glory.

Growth – and in the spirit of growth.

Our theme for this newsletter is Growth – and in the spirit of growth, we applaud and give thanks for those generous people who devote themselves to growing others, as they continue to grow in their own faith.

The two are interconnected: the more we give of ourselves to others, lift them up, and help them grow, so too do we open up space in our hearts to grow in our faith and match our deeds to those of Christ.

Growth takes effort and commitment, and this year we got stuck right in, from the get-go. We started our 6-week Abba’s Child gardening course with 13 families in Mmakaunyane; we have four eager young interns on learnership with us; and we launched our second reading club in Winterveld; we began our 80-hour Reforma Pastor Theological Training with our partnering pastors.

We’re also focused on rolling out STEAM subjects for our ECD programs; we hosted our 4th Annual Tlotso Youth Leaders Retreat on 31 March with 50 youth leaders from our 7 after care centres; and we held our second Career Day in May for over 80 Grade 8-12s, with 30+ professionals in attendance. And lots more lies ahead of us for 2025!

Growth can take many forms, but the principle at the heart of it is a process which continues to evolve in wonderful ways, with a knock-on effect. Grow a vegetable garden and it yields food far into the future. Grow a young leader, and they will grow others in turn. It’s a compounding process, and that is the way good works in the world. And the way God works in our lives. So we urge you to:

grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”

– Peter 3:18
