Guardians of God’s glorious garden

How Abba’s Child trains gogos (grannies) to grow their own gardens and help feed their grandchildren.

Gardening is truly God’s work

A seed is planted

Gardening is a partnership with God, nurturing His creation and witnessing His handiwork bloom. It teaches us patience and faith, as we plant seeds and trust in God’s abundance.

Through gardening, we care for the earth as stewards of His gift, honouring Him through our work. It’s one of the reasons why we launched gardening training with the Guardians of our Abba’s Child programme.

The training takes place over six weeks and takes the Abba’s Child Guardians through the fundamentals of gardening, with practical training in planting seedlings.

Our gardening programme offers other benefits besides a connection to God’s creation – it is good for one’s health and it is food for the future!

Reaping what we sow

Two of our Guardians really took to the training and went on to create flourishing gardens on their own properties.

Gogo Emily is one of these green-fingered Guardians. She has set up a successful home garden. Says Gogo Emily:

We now have gardens and a hose pipe for the flower garden and vegetable garden. All of this gives us strength. They really help us. I have three grandchildren that I take care of.”

Gardening serves as a ministry, providing food, healing, and hope to others, reflecting God’s love in action. Each plant reminds us of God’s provision and the beauty of His creation.
